BALAMBAN, Cebu, Mar 11(PIA)--The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Central Visayas conducted a 2-day Newsletter Production and Photojournalism Seminar-Workshop to 30 participants from the various local government offices and academe in Balamban, Cebu.

In an interview with PIA-7, Balamban Information Officer Lavina Narsico said there is a need for them to produce a newsletter in order to promote the municipality's benchmark and to inform the communities of their programs and projects.

Balamban, Cebu March 11 -- The Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church, one of the landmarks of Balamban town undergoes renovation.

Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Assistant priest, Rev. Fr. Lemuel Ejercito shared that the church is always In the process of formation and renewal.

Balamban has rapidly grown into an industrial municipality, what with the shipbuilding industry located at Buanoy. More than a decade ago, this town was a mere 4th class municipality, but with our determination, coupled with a strong sense of responsibleness and whose vision for Balamban was and is, first and foremost, to uplift the economic life of our people, this once peopled with meager income town has become a multi-faceted 1st class municipality, boasting an internationally-known shipbuilding industry, thereby opening and giving jobs to thousands of workers from the community to the different municipalities, cities and provinces in the country.

Pres. Magsaysay’s grandson visits Balamban PDF Print E-mail

Paco Magsaysay, the grandson of the late Pres. Ramon Magsaysay visits Balamban, Cebu on March 17 to join the LGU in the commemoration of the 54th death anniversary of his 'lolo'.

Paco leads the wreath laying at the Magsaysay Shrine and to judge the painting contest on Mt. Manunggal scenery.

To recall, it was on March 17, 1957 when the presidential plane (Mt. Pinatubo) crashed at the tip of Mt. Manunggal in Balamban, Cebu that caused the tragic death of Pres. Magsaysay.

On June 30, Balamban Mayor-elect Ace Stefan V. Binghay and Vice Mayor-elect Rosario Veloso Binghay were sworn in together with the newly-elected officials as well as the incumbents to their position in a Mass Oathtaking Ceremony at the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish.

Rev. Fr. Raul J. Gallego officiated the mass at approximately 9:00 o'clock in the morning. "The challenge of leadership is to make your people your priority," the parish priest uttered during the homily. Rev. Fr. Gallego reiterated that the duty of a government official is comparable as to his for their vision is directed to the people.
